In this meeting, James Clark, Head of Medical Workforce and Recruitment delivered a session focused on supporting PGDiTs interested in applying to subspecialty recruitment. The sessions included the importance of regular careers discussions and supporting PGDiTs with subspecialty training applications. An update was provided in relation to how the recruitment process is progressing and what the role and expectations are for ESs in confirming eligibility.
Dr Rosie Roots shared her Pregnancy Risk Assessment Guide for Educational Supervisors a toolkit that informs both residents and ESs of HR timelines and processes to facilitate efficient working between teams. This also included a proforma and examples to help Supervisors better support their pregnant resident doctors.
Dr Sian Ludman, Chair of the Less than Full Time Training Advisors Network finished the roadshow with a presentation exploring LTFT Training and the role of the Educational Supervisor in supporting flexible working.

Educational Supervisor virtual roadshow – Spring | 19 March 2026
In this meeting, Dr David Evans delivered a session focused on Re-imagining workplace-based assessment. Exploring the purpose, pitfalls, and barriers to performing workplace-based assessments (WPBAs). To compliment this theme, Dr Cathryn Chadwick Vice President for Training and Assessment discussed How to train a Capable consultant. This presentation reviewed the differences between time based and capability-based training, capability vs competence, the challenges of assessing for capability as well as touching on the use of entrustability in assessments and our new assessment strategy.

Thrive Paediatrics is a RCPCH project with paediatrician wellbeing and working lives at its heart. Through listening to your stories and gathering evidence from members across the country and in our pilot Wellbeing and Innovation Networks, we are creating a growing pool of resources to support individuals, teams, organisations and regions to improve their working lives.
Effective Educational Supervision
This online course meets the General Medical Council's requirements for educational supervisors. It explores the fundamentals of educational supervision and provides essential updates on the RCPCH Progress + Curriculum and RCPCH assessments.
EES Train the Trainer course
This is a one-day, face-to-face course aimed at those who would like to become faculty for the EES course. We go through the course material, in a relaxed small group discussion style. There is no assessment! Following this, if still interested, you can teach on the EES course – we run about 8 each year, the majority are online – you can chose your dates and you need not commit to the whole day.

We do not issue CPD certificates for webinars or podcasts, as we are unable to verify participation.
However, you are still able to record as a CPD activity as you normally would, detailing what you have learned and how the learning will benefit your practice.
When recording the activity, delegates should focus on the reflection and detail the following:
- What did you learn?
- What effect has/will the learning had/have on your current practice?
- What further learning or action, if any, is needed as a result of the original learning activity?
