Paediatric training at ST1 – everything trainees need to know
During your first meeting with your trainee, make sure you review the new ST1 resource. By setting SMART objectives, you can work together with your trainee to complete the checklist. Keep the momentum high by holding fortnightly meetings if possible and regularly update ePortfolio within that meeting.

Educational Supervisor virtual roadshow – Summer | Monday 16 Jun 2025
In this roadshow, Dr Anna Baverstock Consultant Paediatrician and AMD for senior doctor wellbeing / leadership at Musgrove Park Hospital will deliver a session focused on Wellbeing at Work – how can we as supervisors support to enable resident doctors to thrive. We’ll also hear from James Clark, Head Of Medical Recruitment who will discuss subspecialty recruitment and the role of the Educational Supervisor when supporting trainees through the subspecialty application process.
Thrive Paediatrics Resource Hub
Thrive Paediatrics is a RCPCH project with paediatrician wellbeing and working lives at its heart. Through listening to your stories and gathering evidence from members across the country and in our pilot Wellbeing and Innovation Networks, we are creating a growing pool of resources to support individuals, teams, organisations and regions to improve their working lives.
Effective Educational Supervision
This online course meets the General Medical Council's requirements for educational supervisors. It explores the fundamentals of educational supervision and provides essential updates on the RCPCH Progress + Curriculum and RCPCH assessments.
We do not issue CPD certificates for webinars or podcasts, as we are unable to verify participation.
However, you are still able to record as a CPD activity as you normally would, detailing what you have learned and how the learning will benefit your practice.
When recording the activity, delegates should focus on the reflection and detail the following:
- What did you learn?
- What effect has/will the learning had/have on your current practice?
- What further learning or action, if any, is needed as a result of the original learning activity?
