  • Professor May Ng

    Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist

    Professor May Ng is a Professor of Paediatrics at Edge Hill University, Hon Associate Professor at University of Liverpool and a dual accredited Consultant Paediatrician and Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist based in Mersey West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS. She leads the Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes service at the Trust. Prof Ng was awarded an OBE on the 2022 Platinum Jubilee Queen’s Birthday Honour List for Services to People with Diabetes and People with Autism and Disabilities. She was also featured on the In-focus Profile for The Lancet (Diabetes endocrinology) February 2023, Vol 11, issue 2. She was past President of the UK Association of Children's Diabetes Clinicians, Chair of the UK NIHR/Diabetes Research Steering Group for Children and Young People and was the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Heath College Specialty Advisory Committee Training Advisor for Endocrinology and Diabetes from 2014-2020. She is currently the Royal College of Paediatrics Research Officer and the NIHR NW Research Specialty Lead for Paediatircs. She is an elected Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She completed her undergraduate degree in Medicine under a full scholarship in Sydney, Australia and undertook her paediatric training in Australia, Manchester and Mersey deaneries. She obtained the national grid for paediatric endocrinology and diabetes and completed her sub-specialty training in Mersey. She was the recipient of the prestigious Medical Research Council UK Fellowship in 2006 and completed a Masters degree and a Doctoral degree in the area of neonatal endocrinology. She has a Master of Laws degree and is active in medico-legal work, research and education of junior doctors. She also has an MBA in Finance and Healthcare. Prof May Ng is an opinion leader a multi-award winning paediatrician. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Care in Children and Young People and is also a regular invited reviewer for many high impact journals including the Lancet. Prof Ng has produced over 200+ publications and has given over 250+ presentations at international, national scientific conferences and regional meetings.
