The RCPCH Education and Professional Development Team will be at the flagship RCPCH Conference at the ICC Birmingham from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 May 2026.

Join us in the RCPCH Learning Theatre (Hall 3) for sessions during the breaks, where we’ll be showcasing the RCPCH Education portfolio, including a session from RCPCH President, Professor Steve Turner, on system leadership.

Dr Yincent Tse is a Paediatric Nephrologist at the Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne. He has wide research interests including in urinary tract infections. He is Social Media and an Associate Editor for Archives of Disease in Childhood.

Effective Educational Supervision (EES) series presents:

Training the Trainer |Dr David Evans

Join the EES Faculty Lead, Dr David Evans, for an overview of the established RCPCH Effective Educational Supervision course, how we support resident doctors and how to get involved in teaching on the course with a forthcoming train the trainer session taking place in September.

Dr David Evans graduated in medicine from Cambridge and Oxford Universities. He trained in Paediatrics in Bristol and Leeds. He works as a Consultant Neonatologist at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He has been involved in postgraduate medical education for many years and was Head of School in Paediatrics at the Severn Deanery (Health Education England South West) until 2015. He has also been Education Associate with the General Medical Council since 2014

About the RCPCH Effective Educational Supervision course

This one‑day course is designed and delivered to meet the General Medical Council’s requirements for educational supervisors. It explores the fundamentals of educational supervision and provides essential updates on the RCPCH Progress+ curriculum and RCPCH assessments, developing your skills, knowledge and confidence as an effective educational supervisor. The course provides a comprehensive and up‑to‑date overview of educational supervision, focusing on recognising a trainee who needs support, gathering information to define a problem, the benefits of longitudinal supervision, giving feedback and reflecting on your practice. It is suitable for both current and aspiring educational supervisors, including those who require an update for revalidation.
